April 2018 - Lake Ponca

We made a trip from Junction City, Kansas, to Oklahoma City to attend a High School Reunion and to try out the bus after winter storage.

We stopped on the return journey at Lake Ponca Recreational Area. It cost us $7 for the night. We decided not to hook up the electricity - which saved us $2. We also had a dollar discount as we are Seniors. We could use the water and the dump station at no extra cost before we left in the morning.

We had the whole site to ourselves, although we were told there was additional parking on the other side of the lake where other people were camped. We chose to enjoy the beauty of the site and the solitude.

Great Place To Eat

If you are heading near Florence, Kansas, we recommend the Town and Country cafe. The food is excellent and the staff are friendly. It has a real old '50s feel to it as you can see.
Our only disappointment was that the chicken fried steak filled us up so much we didn't have room for their yummy deserts. Next time we are passing we will be prepared!

Junction of Highway 77 and Highway 50.
Plenty of room in the car park for the RV.

Our Traveling Companions

When we are on the road our dogs travel in their cage which is secured to the bus for their safety, and for ours as they both would love to ride on the driver's lap.

Nola  - Yorkie cross - she loves the camera

Caleb  - Jack Russell cross - he is a little camera shy
