Yesterday, Ric had an episode of very low blood pressure and chest pains. This was the third time in less than 2 weeks, and was not showing signs of the speedy recovery from it that he had previously. So we called 911 for an ambulance and they took him to Augusta Hospital in Fisherville.
After they did initial checks, they booked him into the hospital overnight and this morning ran Stress tests and Echo tests on his heart. Both showed abnormalities. We expect that the cardiologist will recommend a heart catheter, but currently, are waiting for him to arrive.
The staff here are great and the hospital room he has has a wonderful view across the valley towards the Blue Ridge Mountains.
We know that this is one of the best hospitals in the country and the place he will get the best care possible. God has certainly brought us to the place where Ric will have the treatment he needs. Many folks are praying for him both in US and UK and we know that whatever happens it is in God's hands and He is always in control. He is an amazing God, and we can trust ourselves fully to His grace and loving care.

A fed bear is a dead bear - sadly
|
This is about the size of the juvenile bear that was trapped last week. People had been throwing food to him and he was getting too familiar with humans. He smelt food left in a tent by some kids while they had gone to the bathrooms he tore up the tent to get the food fortunately, the kids were not there but they might have been. The bear was caught and has been destroyed. The folks who fed him, and left trash and food out or behind effectively signed his death warrant. |

A brick fireplace is all that is left of this house Right opposite the entrance to Sherando Lake |
The house must have burnt down or fallen down quite a while back judging by the trees growing around the remains |
The river running under the bridge by the entrance to Sherando Lake |
The same river looking downstream |
One of many beautiful butterflies in the area |
Looking at the Blue Ridge coming south from Sherando Village - You can see why they call them Blue |

Sunday Evening
This last Sunday we had our first Evening Worship Time at the main pavilion near the lake. It was amazing to be able to sing and worship right in the middle of God's beautiful creation. We are planning for this to be a regular meeting time where we can study the Word and praise and give thanks to the Lord.

Updates
We have truly been blessed with this time at Sherando Lake. There are great people working here, both volunteers and employees. The visitors at the Visitor Center are pleasant and I have had many great conversations with them. The latest group of campers at the Group Sites were Christian leaders with around 100 kids from inner city areas who don't usually get the chance to visit places like this.
Sadly the juvenile bear we had wandering around has been trapped as he was becoming too reliant on human food - unfortunately, due to people leaving trash and food around the campsites and others actually throwing food to him in the picnic area. Because of this, he will have to be put down. People who feed him just don't realize the damage they are doing, especially with a younger bear like this one, feeding him meant that he has to be destroyed because he has already learned the bad habits of coming close to humans.
As the ranger told us - a fed bear is a dead bear.
On a brighter note, Ric is organizing a worship service on Sunday evenings at the main pavilion. We are praying that God will bless the gathering and be glorified by the worship. We know we can rely on the promise that His Word will do His work in the hearts of those present.
We are thoroughly enjoying the beauty of God's creation here in Virginia. On Wednesday we took a trip to Charlottesville and spent some time just driving along some of the back roads to the Bible Study at Rockfish Valley church.
Saw this interesting headstone at the old Rockfish church (built in 1700s)
